How to Create Your Online Coaching Program

SUMMARY

So, you've gone through the design phase, you've got all this stuff out in front of you drawn out on paper, but you're not sure how to get it into an online program because you're stuck in technical overwhelm. Well, stick with me in this episode, and I'm going to show you how to take what you did in the 'mise en place' phase and combine all those ingredients together to build and create your online program.

The first step that we need to take is to get all those ideas and that Unique Roadmap that we designed last week and turn it into world-class intellectual property. And to do this, what I like to do is go through what I call Slide-Deck Mastery.

The second step in the create phase is what I call Pain-Free Production.

The third step in the create phase is having a  Powerhouse Platform.

Well, that's it for me for another week. Join me again next week, when we go into the third stage of launching your online program, and that is automate. I'll see you then.

Hi, this is Grant Herbert, Emotional Intelligence Speaker and Trainer of the Year and Master Coach Trainer, and this week, I want to continue our conversation around getting your online program launched by taking you through the second stage, and that is to create your own. So, we started this journey a couple of weeks ago, where I wanted to help people to take what they have within them and launch that in an online program that was going to make a bigger impact to the lives of the people that they were going to serve. A lot of people have not done that because of limiting beliefs and because of technical overwhelm and other challenges that are going on for them, and I want to make it simple to be able to get past that.

We started off last week by talking about the first stage of launching your online program, and that was design. We went analog, we got out paper, and we stayed away from the computer and got it done. We've got everything out of our head, out of our heart, and we put it together in a program. By the way, if you haven't watched that, then pause this one, go back, and watch last week's so that you're ready because the challenge is what most people do is they get straight on the computer and they stare at a blank screen and nothing happens because it's all a bit overwhelming when it's something that's new that you haven't done before. The design phase takes away that overwhelm. You've now got your ingredients. They're ready to mix up and make an amazing meal ready for your clients. So, what I want to do is take you through the three steps in this stage, so that you create an online program that's easy to consume, easy to implement, and creates the change, the transformation that you were designing it for in the first place.

The first step that we need to take is to get all those ideas and that Unique Roadmap that we designed last week and turn it into world-class intellectual property. And to do this, what I like to do is go through what I call Slide-Deck Mastery. So remember, we're building a minimum viable program here. There's not even a necessity for you to be in front of the camera like I am right now, unless that's something that you want to do. So when I help people to build their online programs, we start with the easiest and most effortless way of getting that done. So to do that, we need visual slides that we can go through and that we can add audio to so that your clients go on a journey filled with not just information, but metaphors that help them to understand the context and therefore put it into practice.

Now, some people are quite used to using things like PowerPoint or Keynote to present the challenge with that though is what I call 'Death by PowerPoint'. We've all been in those sessions. We might've even done them ourselves before we learned this, where we've sat through someone reading lines and lines of text from a slide, sometimes even turning around and reading them and not even looking at the audience. And when that happens with me, I'm thinking, "Hey! Just give me the slides. I'll read them to myself." So, what we're going to do is make sure that we create our visual aids so that they add value to what it is that we're teaching and not detract from it. In our Online Program Launchpad, I gave you a done-for-you template so that you can just take your information and your images and put them in there and you can take your Unique Roadmap and bring it to life in slides. When we do this, we've got to make sure that it's not something that is laborious and takes hours upon hours to do. So, I set myself some rules around that. I give myself two minutes for every image. I make sure that I have the metaphors worked out in the design phase, before I go to the computer. Slide-Deck Mastery is all about how can I get this done so that it's visually pleasing. It's full of metaphors and invokes emotion. It's easy for the user to see the context and therefore go, "Yes, I understand what I need to do here." And that's all done without distracting from what it is that you're trying to teach. So, the first step in the create phase is Slide-Deck Mastery.

The second step in the create phase is what I call Pain-Free Production. As I've said, you don't even need to get in front of a camera if you want to. That's totally up to you. You can even use your slides and you can speak to those slides and whether you're using Keynote or whether you're using PowerPoint, you can do that directly within the program. You can even use a hybrid version of those too, where there's a small image of you up in the corner looking at a camera while the slides are doing the visual presentation, whichever one of those you choose. The key point I want to get across here is we want to be able to do this so it's pain-free, we don't need a fancy studio with lights and special cameras and a full production crew. We want to be able to get it done and get it up online so that people can start using it. So, the second stage is to make sure that you can take your slides and turn them into videos in an easy and effortless way with great audio, and the production is simple, and the editing can be done by you.

The third step in the create phase, now that we have created our slides, we've turned those into videos and simply edited them so that they don't have any of the bloopers and those extra bits in, a little bit like I do every time I stand in front of the camera each week for you. It's not done in one take, let me tell you. You can see by the transitions that my team do that I do make mistakes, but now what we'll want to do is we want a Powerhouse Platform that we can then put the videos on with the audio, with the transcripts, with the worksheets, whatever it is that you want to use in your program, so that your clients have access to them, and we want to do this in a way that works well together. What I used to do is I had about 12 different things. I had something that was doing the hosting of the videos, I had something that was the website, I had something that was the email marketing, and I had something that was the membership area for them to sign in, and I had a shopping cart and I had this and I had that. And what I've been able to do now, thankfully, is find a Powerhouse Platform that does it all. It hosts everything. It gives access to everything. It has communication that I can use between me and my clients so that everyone has a much better experience, and it's simple enough for me to do myself. It's no use having great videos with great audio, but getting bogged down and frustrated and overwhelmed because you don't know how to get them on the internet so that people can access them. You don't know how to secure them, and you're worried about people stealing your intellectual property or sharing it with friends or whatever the things that go through our minds sometime. And they're just reasons, by the way, that are stopping us from getting out online.

So, that's the three areas that we go through so that we can take what we have designed in analog, that unique customer journey, and turn it into something that comes to life and does the teaching component of our coaching program. We have Slide-Deck Mastery, Pain-Free Production, and a Powerhouse Platform. By the way, if you're interested in the platform that I use, have a look in the show notes. You will see a link where you can go and grab a free trial and have a bit of a play around with that. However, no matter where you put this, make sure that you create your program so that it gets out there. There are people waiting for you right now to get your program online so that they can overcome the challenges, the roadblocks, and have the things that your program promises, that transformation from where they are now to where they want to go. Well, that's it for me for another week. Join me again next week, when we go into the third stage of launching your online program, and that is automate. I'll see you then.
